Important information and limitations

Understand local storage, backups, external content, and responsibility before relying on data kept by Glimmd.

Local-only storage

Preferences, recent reading positions, highlights, and comments remain in the local Chrome profile on the device. Root Digital CR does not receive, synchronize, inspect, or recover this data. It counts toward the profile's storage and may become unavailable or be removed by Chrome, the operating system, profile cleanup, storage limits, device failure, or user action.

Not a backup service

Glimmd is not a backup or permanent data source. Data may be lost after uninstalling the extension, clearing browser data, changing or damaging the profile, reinstalling Chrome, changing devices, or suffering hardware or software failure. Export tools create local files, but users are responsible for checking, protecting, and retaining those copies. Automatic recovery after a Markdown file changes is not guaranteed.

Documents and external resources

Glimmd is a reader. Root Digital CR is not the author, editor, publisher, distributor, or controller of Markdown documents opened with it, or of their statements, licenses, links, images, or related files. Opening a file with Glimmd is not an endorsement or a guarantee that the file or an external destination is accurate, safe, lawful, or suitable.

Manual settings and imported files

Preferences, custom CSS, and imported configuration or annotation backups are supplied or chosen by the user. Glimmd validates supported formats and applies security limits, but cannot guarantee suitability for every document, purpose, or environment. Configuration may change presentation or visually hide content. Users must review imports and retain copies of anything important.

Availability, warranties, and liability

Glimmd is provided as is and as available. Uninterrupted operation, complete absence of errors, permanent compatibility, data preservation, and recovery are not guaranteed. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Root Digital CR is not liable for loss of data, files, annotations, opportunities, or indirect damages arising from the use of or inability to use Glimmd. Nothing on this page limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Privacy

Glimmd does not transmit document content, annotations, or preferences to the developer. See the Privacy Policy for the complete and controlling disclosure of local processing, permissions, and user-triggered external connections.
